Special Events

The Special Events and Activities Committee plans, organizes and hosts many different events and activities to socialize and connect in-person (following health protocols) and virtually. These include annual events, lunches, walks, Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and the Coffee Chat.

Special events and activities may change in each Academy year.

New Member Welcome Event

The Special Events and Activities committee plans a new member Welcome Event in September at Tartu for an orientation to the Academy. New members have the opportunity to come and meet some members of the Board and find out how to enhance their experience at the Academy and get answers to any questions. Date and time to be emailed to members.

Holiday Luncheon

The Special Events and Activities committee hosted our Holiday Luncheon on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 in the Event Hall at Tartu. An email was sent to Academy members with details of the event. The 2024 event is TBA.

Facilitators Forum and Volunteer Luncheon

Volunteers and facilitators are the lifeblood of the Academy and these two events celebrate their contributions. Dates and times to be emailed to members.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The AGM is held yearly in June. Date and time to be emailed to members.

Special Interest Groups / Coffee Chat

The Special Interest Groups (SIGs) / clubs are organized by the Special Events and Activities Committee. Special Interest groups and the Coffee Chat meet online via Zoom.

Rain or shine and health protocols permitting, the Academy’s trusty band of walk leaders lead groups of members and guests as they venture forth to explore Toronto’s ravines, markets, urban art, historic buildings, cemeteries and green spaces.
