Special Events

The Special Events and Activities Committee plans, organizes and hosts many different events and activities to socialize and connect in-person (following health protocols) and virtually. These include annual events, lunches, walks, Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and the Coffee Chat.


New Member Welcome Event

The Special Events and Activities committee invites all new members of the Academy to join us on September 7, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Tartu for an orientation to the Academy.  Come and meet some members of the Board and find out how you can enhance your experience at the Academy and get answers to any questions you may have.  Academy members will receive an email with the details of the event.


Academy Town Hall

We will be having an Academy Town Hall on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. at Tartu (with refreshments starting at 1:00 p.m.).

After four years of change and challenge for the Academy – moving from the U of T campus, finding a new home, a worldwide pandemic, new technology, and ongoing changes in the growing lifelong learning environment – this is a good time to refresh and renew. This is your opportunity to participate in shaping the Academy’s future. Academy members will receive an email with the details of the event.



Holiday Luncheon

The Special Events and Activities committee is inviting you to our Holiday Luncheon to be held Wednesday, December 6, 2023 in the Event Hall at Tartu. An email has been sent to Academy members with details of the event.

Entertainment starts at 11:30 with lunch at 12:00.


Facilitators Forum and Volunteer Luncheon

Volunteers and facilitators are the lifeblood of the Academy and these two events celebrate their contributions. Dates and times TBA.


Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The AGM is held yearly in June. Date and time TBA.


Special Interest Groups / Coffee Chat

The Special Interest Groups (SIGs) / clubs are organized by the Special Events and Activities Committee. Special Interest groups and the Coffee Chat meet online via Zoom.
