Wrap-up to our 2018/19 Academy Year – The AGM

More than 100 Academy members filled Alumni Hall in Old Vic on Monday June 3rd for the Annual General Meeting, which was ably chaired by outgoing President, Sharon Harris.
In her report Sharon outlined some of the ups and downs of this past year, including the bombshell dropped by Knox when they declined to renew our agreement. Sharon and Vice President Doug Wilson are to be congratulated on their very firm and professional response to this distressing news.
We are indeed fortunate that Brian Gaston and his excellent team were able to swing into action immediately and are now conducting a very thorough search for suitable new accommodation. They are cautiously optimistic.
All the Committee reports, the Treasurer’s report and the election of new Board members were met with general approval. Much gratitude was expressed to Committee members and Facilitators for their many hours of volunteer time.
However there was considerable discussion about the proposed new Code of Conduct, because the guidelines had not yet been posted for all to see. However the vast majority of those present were satisfied with the information provided and the Code was duly approved.
No other topics were raised for discussion and so, after an eloquent tribute to Sharon by Doug Wilson, the meeting was adjourned and members enjoyed a light lunch. Thanks to Special Events for organizing this.
