Academy Website Relaunch – March 2025

We are pleased to launch our newly redesigned website. We have tried to make it easy to use, easier on the eye and to provide new functionality that will improve your experience with the Academy.
Please find below a listing of the changes that we have made.
Cleaner Overall Design
- We are using a new theme for our site. This theme is simpler It also has integration for the online store we will introduce later this year.
- No more PDFs moving forward! All of the content is on web pages. This improves readability and makes it much easier to update.
- We have tried to make the website easier to use with screen readers and with other assistive devices. We would appreciate your feedback in regard to this.
Colour Scheme / Graphics
- The official Academy colour scheme which compliments our logo has been adopted.
- We have added representative images for our pages and posts so that they display when we add previews of the pages as links.
Feedback / Contact Us
- We have removed all email address from the website to protect individual’s privacy.
- In place of email addresses are contact forms, which will track correspondences and email the appropriate personnel. You can see an example of this at the bottom of this post.
- Look for the contact forms throughout the website and use them to make contact as needed.
Improved Calendar
- All of the events occurring at the Academy now appear in one place. On this calendar page you’ll be able to search and filter the events to find what you are looking for.
- You have the option of using the “Add to Calendar” feature to add the event to your Apple, Google, or Microsoft calendars on your personal devices.
- For events with limited availability, we will be utilizing the RSVP feature of the calendar. This will give you an emailed confirmation that you have been registered as well as provide us with a list of attendees generated from the calendar.
In-House Management
- Our website is now managed by ALLTO volunteers. We are managing the design and implementation of our own website.
- We are now able to make updates to the website on an ad hoc basis instead of a weekly basis.
Member-Only and Board-Only Documents Offline
- Members-Only and Board-Only documents have been taken offline until a later phase of the website rebuild.
- We will take advantage of improved security that will be introduced.
Accessibility Options
- Our site now includes more options for accessibility. You’ll notice an accessibility button on the page that will allow you to adjust certain elements such as text size, create high contrast images, underline links, etc.
Wait A Second – Something is Missing!
We have performed a lot of cleanup on the website to remove outdated material, PDFs, and generally significantly reduced the size of what we manage. We do want to keep our storage requirements low so that we do not need to increase our monthly hosting costs.
It is possible that you may have links to content that was on the previous version of the website. If there is something that does need to be restored, you can use the contact form at the end of this page to make a request for us to look at that content and how it might be restored. We do have a backup copy of the old site from which we can retrieve items as needed.
What’s Upcoming?
We are working on implementing an online store using WooCommerce. This store will:
- Integrate membership management into the website
- Provide the ability to login as a registered user to access members-only materials
- Register for workshops as a part of your membership
We will continue to update everyone as these changes are prepared and rolled out.
