At the start of each session the participants suggest topics from the recent news worthy of further discussion. The discussion of each topic starts with a brief introduction by the person suggesting the topic followed by a general discussion.

Facilitators

Ken Snelson (ksnelson@rogers.com) is a former planning engineer with Ontario Hydro. He came to Canada from England in 1969. He is now the Secretary of the Philatelic Specialists Society of Canada. He has been an Academy member since 2006 and for several years organized the Academy walks. He is a widower living in a retirement home in Etobicoke.

 Joan Bartel has lived in four countries, ending up happily in Canada. She enjoyed a long career as manager and instructor in the field of English as a Second Language, incorporating cultural and business soft skills in her lessons. Reflecting her interest in the news, she wrote a textbook for ESL students on how to understand newspaper English.
