Come with us on a trip down memory lane to Ragtime, New Orleans jazz bands, the Swing Era, 1940s Be-Bop, West Coast styles and more. Enjoy classic masters of the “Blues” and explore the hits of bygone days. Our jazzy, bluesy workshop will be enhanced by one or two 50-minute presentations from each participant (depending on workshop size), the majority of which will be recorded music with spontaneous discussion during and after each presentation.
Often, we will devote one class to hear live music from a local musician. This is an enthusiastic, interactive and fun class. All are welcome, from curious beginners to those who have enjoyed all aspects of jazz for many years. So come, sit back and chill out with our jazz and blues vibe.
Facilitators
Frank Richmond retired after forty years as a trial lawyer and moved with his wife to Lake of Bays. He spends most of his outdoor time hiking, swimming, sailing, and canoeing. He spends most of his indoor time collecting jazz recordings, listening to jazz (which has been his passion since his early teens) and drinking wine.
Bill Krangle has been playing the clarinet since he was eight years old. At Michigan’s famed Interlochen Music Camp, he joined the prestigious High School recording orchestra for several seasons. Later, while a student at Cornell University he led the Concert Band as concertmaster in a special invitational performance at New York’s Lincoln Center.
